Jon Nutter, Lead Pastor
Pastor Jon loves to be outdoors. Among his favorite pursuits are cycling, jogging, hunting, fishing, hiking. and when time allows enjoying long windy-road drives in the Jeep or on the motorcycle. It is in the outdoors where he finds a deep spiritual connection to his Creator. He explains,
"I'm the typical guy who wouldn't naturally go to church to hang-out with a bunch of other people. I'm introverted, enjoy solitude, and in many ways connect best with God outside.
He goes on to explain, "But, I long for deep connection with God and other people, and to have a clear sense of meaning a purpose. It's my commitment to Jesus and his I call to abide and abound in connection with him and others that I participate in the life of the church. This means cultivating connections with other Jesus following people gathering and functioning as a community on mission."
A contemplative leader and creative communicator with over 25 years of pastoral experience, Jon enjoys producing practical content for people who want to grow in their faith and make positive contributions in their community and beyond.
Active in the community, Jon serves in a variety of leadership positions within the non-profit sector of Douglas County including the Board of Directors for Every Child Douglas County (ECHO), as the Vice-Chair of BeOneUmpqua (a partnership effort mobilizing evangelical faith leaders and congregations in Douglas county), as a Police/First Responders Chaplain with Oregon State Police.
A frequent frequent contributor to the devotional resource Pathways to God, and an occasional curriculum developer for Warner Press, Jon is currently developing a book project Lean Forward: Paddle Hard, a discipleship resource for men and boys.
Jon is married to his college sweetheart, Kimber, and they have a college-age son Josh who attends George Fox University.
