What the Church of God Believes The major thrust of the
Church of God, historically, has been to bring about unity between
all believers. Our name comes from the Word of God and we consider
our doctrine to be God's Word to its fullest extent.
We further believe:
· We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible,
authoritative Word of God.
· We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three
persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
· We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His
virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His
vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily
resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father,
and in His personal return in power and glory.
· We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people,
regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
· We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by
whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
· We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the
lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they
that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
· We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord
Jesus Christ. How the Church of God is
Governed The Hucrest Community Church of God is
congregational in government, having an elected Board of Trustees
for management of finances and property, and a Church Council made
up of 11 elected and appointed persons plus four staff members to
plan and work with programming within the church.
Our congregation voluntarily contributes towards and works with
the Oregon
Association of the Church of God, but there are no expectations
other than the annual certification of ministers and pastors by the
state.
Nationally, our general offices are in Anderson, Indiana where
the "General Assembly" of the Church of God meets
annually to determine policy on an international level. But local
congregations are free to participate or not, depending on their
individual desires.
How to Become a "Member" In the
Church of God, our membership is open and informal. We believe the
church is not an organization to be joined, but a fellowship of
persons who, by spiritual birth, have become members of the family
of God. We have no rite of church joining, so if you wish to
consider yourself a "member" of this church:
- Become a Christian
- Attend regularly
- Consider this church your home church
- Support the local congregation with your tithes of time,
talents, and money
